What about delivery?
*Delivery Time: The average delivery time is between 10-20 business days. Most scooters are "in-stock" and usually ship within a few
days! Transit time is typically 2-10 business days, depending on your distance from our respective
warehouse. While we try to meet or beat these times, such estimates are always
subject to manufacturers' production and shipping/customs changes. ScootsUSA
cannot be responsible for freight carrier delays. Back To Top
*Delivery Costs: Delivery is free and included in the price of Motor Scooters/Mopeds. Shipping charges apply to all parts and accessories. We can accept orders from military personnel only with a specific address within the Continental US; unfortunately we cannot arrange delivery to APO addresses. Back To Top
*Arranging delivery: We will send you a tracking number, with your invoice, after your order is picked up by the freight company. You can then contact the shipper and determine the delivery date and make any special arrangements.
Customers located in remote areas or areas where a semi truck cannot get to, may have longer transit times.

What do you charge for delivery?
FREE DELIVERY and we mean it! No additional charges. Our Motor Scooter orders include Free Delivery. Many of our competitors deliver only to their closest terminal, which may not be close to you. We will deliver direct to your home at no additional charge. If residential delivery is requested, you will have to have someone to help you remove the crate from the truck (about 250 lbs.). Lift gate is also included at no additional charge. (Shipping charges are applied to all parts and accessory orders). Back To Top
Is assembly required for the motor scooters upon delivery?
Most models come fully assembled requiring you to only to attach the mirrors and set up the battery. Most of our Motor Scooters/Mopeds are "road ready" in 15-30 minutes from uncrating. The 3M Challenger and the Nitro50 models require additional assembly which include the front wheel, front fairing and some other items in addition to the mirrors and battery. Assembly on these models is approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours. For the 3M Challenger and Nitro 50 we recommend a motor scooter or motor cycle mechanic to assist in the assembly and preparation.
Once you are a customer, you will have access to our exclusive "Customer Only Area". In our "Customer Only Area" you will find reference and resource materials on "Prepping your Scooter" to regular maintenance to performance enhancers. Copies of most owner's manuals can be found there as well. Back

What happens if the bike is damaged in shipping?
Most minor issues are handled by simply sending you replacement parts. Major issues may need outside assistance. It is critical that you inspect the unit(s) prior to the delivery company leaving to insure no damage occurred during transportation. If a product is damaged in transportation, it is important you
note the damage on the driver's receipt. If the delivery company leaves before you inspect, you may be denied the claim by the freight company. Taking Digital pictures will help (more is better). Take several pictures of the carton and the damage if a digital camera is available. If you receive a carton that is visibly damaged, please note the damages on the shipping receipt. Be sure to obtain a copy. Keep the original carton and all materials and parts intact.
Do you ship to Canada, Mexico, or overseas?
We ship anywhere
within the 48 contiguous United States. Due to customs
laws, we cannot ship to Canada or Mexico or overseas. Shipping to Alaska
and Hawaii is usually cost prohibitive to the consumers. Back
To Top
Are your motor scooters DOT and EPA approved?
YES, they are all DOT and EPA Compliant. All the motor
scooters we offer are U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) approved and
have a metal federal safety plate affixed to the bike's
frame. This approval, required by most states, indicates the motor scooter
meets the U.S. Federal safety guidelines (including running lights, turn
signals, brake lights, proper brakes, etc.). All motor scooters for
on-road use imported into the US after January 1, 2006 must also have
a EPA Emissions Control Information label affixed to the bike by the manufacturer. Back
To Top
Do I get a title with the motor scooters?
YES. All our motor scooters
come with a bill of sale and a Manufacturer's
Certificate of Origin ("MCO"). This MCO, like an automobile
title, has the VIN number and vehicle description. Not all states require
registration. It is your obligation to check the laws in your particular
state as to whether you should or can register our motor scooters. MCOs
are NOT shipped with the bike, but is sent separately via US Priority Mail several days after your motor scooter does. Back To Top
How do I register my moped?
See "State Laws" page on our website for a link to your state's
DMV for more information on registration. Many states require registration
(tags or license plates). Shortly after your motor scooter or moped
arrives, you will receive the MCO (Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin) to
register your bike at the DMV. The MCO is NOT sent with the actual motor scooter,
but follows via US Mail. All our motor scooters and mopeds (except choppers
and off-road vehicles) have a DOT Federal Safety Sticker adhered to the bike
which is also required by most states. Minimum age and driver's licensing varies
by state. Please check with your DMV for current regulations. Each motor scooter
or moped comes with a federal safety sticker, adhered to each bike, to comply
with most states safety requirements. Please remember, it is solely
your responsibility to check and comply with the rules and laws within your
state. Back To Top
What model year will I receive?
Our inventory consists of the Manufacturer's most current model/ model year. Model years are not important as they are with automobiles. With automobiles
the models and parts change every few years and the car's resale value
is directly affected by the model year. This is typically not the case
with motor scooters. The parts in each hardly ever change (the 49cc
engine is patterned after the original motor scooter engine, the Honda 50,
which basically hasn't changed in 30 years). And due to the low
cost of motor scooters, resale value is typically based on the appearance and
upkeep of the bike. Back To Top
What if I just don't like it?
ScootsUSA wants you to be satisfied
with your purchase. But there is a strict no cancellations, no returns no refunds policy. Our products are
guaranteed to perform as described and there are thousands and thousands of
satisfied users. Rest assured that if a warrantied defect should be found within
the warranty period, ScootsUSA will repair or replace the item according to
the manufacturer's warranty specifications. Back To Top
What kind of warranty is there?
ScootsUSA offers a 12 month warranty on most models (see Warranty information below for further details). Motor scooters are not like automobiles with so many parts and systems that can go wrong. If broke in properly and properly maintained your motor
scooter will last you for years and years. If some part is damaged we can provide you a replacement at nominal costs if not
included under warranty. (see more warranty information below)Back To Top

plant that has over 30 years experience in manufacturing motor scooters. They

General Questions
What is the difference between a 2-stroke and 4-stroke engine?
A 4-stroke engine has no mixing of gas and oil and is a cleaner burning engine.
4-stroke motor scooters are typically slower "off the line" or from a stop than 2-stroke.
A 2-stroke can (in theory) produce twice the power of a 4 stroke for the
same sized engine and the same rpm's.
Advantages of 2-stroke:
- 2-stroke engines do not have valves, simplifying their construction.
- 2-stroke engines fire once every revolution (four-stroke engines fire once
every other revolution). This gives 2-stroke engines a significant power boost.
- 2-stroke engines are lighter, and cost less to manufacture.
- 2-stroke engines have the potential for about twice the power in the same
size because there are twice as many power strokes per revolution.
Disadvantages of 2-stroke:
- 2-stroke engines don't live as long as four-stroke engines. The lack of a
dedicated lubrication system means that the parts of a 2-stroke engine wear-out
faster. 2-stroke engines require a mix of oil in with the gas to lubricate
the crankshaft, connecting rod and cylinder walls.
- 2-stroke oil can be expensive. Mixing ratio is about 4 ounces per gallon
of gas: burning about a gallon of oil every 1,000 miles.
- 2-stroke engines do not use fuel efficiently, yielding fewer miles per gallon.
- 2-stroke engines imported after January 1, 2006 require a much more stringent EPA certification. This certification will result in modifications to the engines making them cleaner, slower and probably more costly.Back
To Top
Effective Jan 1, 2006 no new 2-stroke motor sports vehicles could be imported into the US. 2-stroke motor scoters imported before that time, are still "legal" for sale. They are expected to be in hot demand in 2006 as the supply dries up.
Is insurance required to operate mopeds?
We cannot quote state
laws or rules, but we do provide a link on our website, www.ScootsUSA.com to
the DMV of each state. Typically mopeds under 50cc do not require insurance. But
you should check with your state laws to be sure. Back To Top
Is a helmet required?
We advise wearing a helmet whenever
operating any motor scooter. But
each state has its own laws regarding helmets use. Please check with
your state. Back To Top
Is there an age requirement to operate a motor scooter?
Age
limits vary by state. Typically it is 16 years of age. You
need to check with the law in your particular state. Back To
Top
Do you have to register a moped and get license plates to operate
it?
This varies by state. It is your obligation to check with
your state regarding the laws. A link to your state's DMV is
provided on our site at www.ScootsUSA.com. Back

What should I know about buying a 49cc motor scooter/moped or a bigger
size moped (like 150cc)?
In most states motor scooters ABOVE 50 cc are considered motor cycles and
thus falls under different regulations. You should check with your local
DMV for the exact interpretation. Below are the typical details. Remember,
your state might not follow these details so verify with your DMV.

2 Stroke engines without catalytic converters can no longer be imported for use in motor
scooters/mopeds as of January 1, 2006. All 2 stroke models already in the US
will be "grand fathered" and will still be available for sale, while supplies last. Back
To Top
How fast do your motor scooters go?
Most 49cc (engine size) powered motor scooters will go between 30
and 40 miles per hour. And some may go faster than that, and some may go a little less. Remember, speed is a relative thing. Weight of the bike, weight carried, incline, wind resistance, road conditions and overall motor scooter maintenance all have an effect on the speed your motor scooter will go. Most 49cc motor scooters will gain approximately 5 more miles per hour after their break in period (about 50 miles). Back
To Top
Do I have to mix oil with the gas?
No. In the older
2-stroke engines, a mixing of oil with gas was required. Today's
2-stroke engines are typically "auto-injected", meaning although
there is a mixture occurring, the mixing is done automatically. 4-stroke
engines never required mixing oil and gas. Back To Top
What types of transmissions are on motor scooters?
Most
models have automatic transmissions using centrifugal force clutches. There
is no shifting required. Increase gas and go, sometimes referred to as "twist
and go". Decrease gas to slow down. Back To Top
The Nitro50 is only available with a manual transmission with a clutch and
shifting required. The Baby Soft Tail is available in 4 speed automatic
or 4 speed manual. Back To Top
The Veneto, ST50/STA50, and the Nitro50 all have chain drives, the others
have a belt drive. Back To Top
Is there a way to make the bikes go faster?
There is an upgrade
kit available to increase the engine size to 80cc and the speed and power is
increased accordingly. Any "after market" upgrades
are installed by you or a person familiar with small engines. Other speed
enhancements are available on our website. Back To Top
Can I make a 4 Stroke motor scooter accelerate faster from a stopped position?
Installation of a "transmission step-up" kit will significantly increase speed from a stop. See details on our site under "Performance Parts". Back To Top
How fast will the 70cc/80cc upgrade make these bikes go?
This depends on the ancillary factors: Weight being carried, road surface, road
incline, winds resistance, etc. The engine upgrade kit should add 10-15 +/- mph and
more power (for hills, extra weight, etc.) Back To Top
What security systems are available for motor scooters?
All
our motor scooters come with a locking front fork, which locks the front wheel
in the "all the way to the left" position, making it very
difficult to "roll away". Most models also offer a built in, electronic
alarm system. Back To Top
Where do I get parts for my motor scooter?
There are many
fewer parts required compared to an automobile. But virtually
all parts are standard and available at most motor cycle shops, and auto parts
stores. They are also available directly from us here at this website
or through other parts sites and the manufacturer's websites.Back
To Top
What is meant by "Street Legal"?
Street legal
is typically defined as a motor scooter that is DOT approved, has a "clean" bill
of sale, has a title (MCO) and can be operated on public streets safely. All
our motor scooters meet these requirements. We DO
NOT offer the smaller "pocket bikes" that are sold in some malls
and online that are NOT street legal.Back To Top
